A free, public toolkit of web developer diagnostics: DNS, WHOIS, blacklist, HTTP header and crawlability checks, including which AI bots can read your site.
The problem
Every day we check DNS records, SSL certificates, redirects and email blacklists for clients. The free tools online are spread across different sites, often slow and full of adverts, and few of them tell you whether AI crawlers can read your website.
What we built
A fast, clean set of tools that anyone can use for free, with no sign-up:
- DNS lookup and DNS propagation checks
- WHOIS registration details
- Email blacklist checks against a wide range of blocklists
- HTTP headers and the full redirect chain
- Dig and nameserver comparison, to spot records that don't match
- Crawlability for search engines and AI bots, including robots.txt, meta robots and sitemaps
- IP lookup and browser and connection details
The parts you don't see
A public tool that looks things up on the internet needs to be protected from misuse. Behind the scenes, Webdev Tools has fair-use limits, bot protection, and safeguards that stop it being used to probe private networks.
It runs on our own server rather than a cheap shared platform, because some checks, such as blacklist lookups, are only reliable from a server we control. It is also built on the same foundation as Cloudflare Manager, so user accounts and subscription billing are already in place, ready for paid plans in the future.
